TACTICAL COMMUNICATIONS WING (TCW)TCW is a deployable communications unit responsible for deploying around the world on short notice to design, create and implement IT solutions for a large number of users, providing systems with up to TOP SECRET information with the ability to provide mission critical information. The maintenance and fault rectification of these systems is paramount to the successful completion of a military deployment. Whilst on TCW I have completed 4 overseas tours during which I carried out many tasks, including, but not limited to the following:• Providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support for entire networks, ranging from 100 users to 300+ users.• Maintaining over 200 laptops and other information devices.• Installation of future network upgrades such as laying all physical infrastructure such as 2km cross-site fibres, CAT5 cables, Phone lines etc.• Maintain system stability in challenging infrastructure / environmental issues. • Report generation to 4th line support using fault reporting tools.• Configure system backups and security needs, carrying out full system backups and recovery.• Acting as a single point of contact on the helpdesk for users of all positions and ranks.• Withdrawal of network infrastructure, maintaining its integrity and serviceability.• Maintaining and monitoring communication links.• Network Administration such as basic to more advanced Active Directory housekeeping - resetting passwords, applying user permissions etc.• Microsoft Server 2003/2008/2010 administration.• Extremely strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 2010.• Remote desktop connections for virtual server administration.• VSphere. • VMWare.

Throughout my time at Pulstar I built strong relationships with new and existing customers, my duties included cold calling potential customers, following up previous customer accounts which had become dormant and identifying areas of industry which could be targeted and offering these companies promotional products from our range. I was also in constant contact with existing customers and dealt with enquiries for repeat/new orders. The responsibilities of this role meant I was responsible for receiving enquiries from customers, finding the best supplier to buy the product from and mark up the total cost of the item, then sell it back to the customer. This meant I needed to have a good knowledge of maths, negotiating skills and be able to communicate well with customers.
