When faced with my own mortality, I began questioning what truly mattered to me and what I valued most. In July 2021, I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma. At that time, my daughter was just 6 months old, and my wife was on maternity leave while also starting her own business. My life took a drastic turn away from a career that had consumed me since I was 12. Before my diagnosis, I had been a professional rugby union player, representing the Australian men’s rugby 7’s team for 5 years. I proudly participated in the 2013 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, before returning to play for my childhood club, the ACT Brumbies, for another 5 years.During the initial stages of my diagnosis and treatment, I often reflected on the concepts of value and importance. In the midst of adversity, I found strength in my family and loved ones, helping me navigate the challenges of cancer. It became clear that quality experiences and memories with my wife and now two children were what mattered most.Transitioning from professional sports to advisory services, I've come to appreciate that value takes many forms and varies from person to person. What excites me about being an Adviser is the opportunity to discuss with clients their financial journeys and discover what is important to them. This exchange allows for deep connections and builds prosperous relationships based on honesty and trust.
