Tom Durkee is an Emergency Manager who specializes in Public Health Preparedness issues and has over 20 years experience in the Emergency Medical field working as a Paramedic. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan's School of Public Health with a Master's Degree in Public Health, Tom moved to San Jose, California where he works as a Public Health Preparedness consultant for ICF International. In addition to the MPH, Tom has earned a MBA and Master of Health Care Administration from Western Michigan University. Tom is also a member of the California Medical Assistance Team and is working on becoming a DMAT #6 (Bay-Area) team member. Tom will be leaving Silicon Valley on October 28th for a one-year public health emergency planner assignment with the National Capital Region (Washington D.C.) Homeland Security Bio-Emergency Planners Subcommittee. Tom will be working as a consultant to the D.C. Department of Health on Public Health planning issues including preparing our nation's Capital for bioterrorism attacks, H1N1 preparedness, and other public health issues.OBJECTIVE - - - - - To obtain a public health emergency preparedness/disaster readiness position within the emergency management arena that utilizes my experience and education as an emergency medical instructor, administrator, manager, and clinical provider, as well as my background as a public health professional.- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage employees. - Flexibility and willingness to recognize and accommodate varying client management styles and
