Recent years have seen an exponential increase in the availability of genome sequences for many important microbes, particularly bacteria responsible for foodborne and healthcare-associated infections. MicrobiType was founded with the goal of applying these genome sequences to the development of improved strain typing methods. Typing is critical to outbreak detection and investigation, but currently used methods have serious limitations. MicrobiType's polymorphic locus sequence typing (PLST, patent pending) services provide a viable outsourcing option for food industries, healthcare facilities, public health labs, pharma, and researchers.

Analysis of microbial genome sequences using optimized bench and bioinformatic approaches, with the dual goals of improving strain identification and predicting antimicrobial resistance. These technologies will be of value to the pathogen surveillance and outbreak detection/investigation efforts of healthcare facilities, food and pharma industries, and public health labs.

AAC is the leading journal in its field. I had primary responsiblity for editing manuscripts relating to antifungal and antiparastic agents, working closely with authors and reviewers.
