I worked across population, clinical trial and preclinical studies in the diabetes and cardiovascular risk field. My role extended to management of local and international collaborations, and mentorship, training and supervision of junior staff and students. Involvement in digital health focusing on augmented reality for smoking cessation in Aboriginal Australian people added breadth to the knowledge I acquired from past research into the acceptability and usefulness of mobile health applications, arguably the most challenging aspect of all mobile applications. In addition, I served as the design partner internally to the implementation process of a SAHMRI-wide biobanking management system, and constructed an end-to-end a mobile laboratory for a large population-based longitudinal study on diabetes and sequelae in Aboriginal Australians to suit study needs in both remote and urban environments. In this capacity I assessed and introduced the use of point of care bench-top analysers to maintain independence and therefore maximum flexibility in remote field settings, and constructed the cold chain process and storage management for all relevant samples.
