My PhD research in medicinal chemistry focused on natural products drug discovery from bacterial symbionts of marine animals. For my postdoc, I studied insect-bacteria symbioses to understand how the role of chemistry in host-symbiont interactions and co-evolution. I was most recently at a Scientist at Zymergen, where I developed and optimized biochemical assays for high-throughput screening of chemical extracts and fractions from microbes engineered to produce bioactive natural products. My expertise in these disparate fields makes me uniquely qualified for research at the interface of chemistry and biology, particularly involving drug discovery from environmental and host-associated microbes. I am currently looking for a scientist position in the areas of small molecule drug discovery, synthetic biology, biochemistry, host-microbe interactions, the microbiome, and/or agriculture and pest control.
