My business partnership works in risk reduction for art market participants at all levels - collectors, dealers, investors, insurance companies - by conducting exhaustive provenance research on works of art to ensure good title. I’m an art market professional with experience working across the academic, publishing and management sectors of the art world. I have a wealth of experience in advising on the art market and have written for a broad range of national (UK) and international arts publications. Following a post-doctoral research Fellowship at the University of Sussex, management posts included a directorship of Thesaurus Information (later Invaluable.com) a leading art price information database, and later Chief Executive of contemporary limited edition online print publisher Eyestorm.com, turning the company around after an extended period of poor management and neglect.I am the author of a number of books on the fine and decorative arts, particularly sculpture history, and continue to write books, exhibition catalogues and related criticism. A visiting lecturer at a number of London and European universities, I speak at a broad range of industry conferences on a variety of issues relating to museums, the art market, art crime, and technological applications in art and business. Chief ExecutiveEyestorm.Com Feb 2006 - Mar 2007I was hired to rescue this company from imminent closure by members of the Private Equity group who were its principal investors. In the previous years it had been subject to serious mismanagement and neglect. I moved the business from Tyneside to refurbished warehouse premises close to Tate Modern in London's Bankside. This provided a launch-pad for a total restructuring and repositioning of the business proposition, involving the hiring of a new workforce and the rebuilding of damaged industry relations. Complete re-branding, a new website, and the injection of a clearer vision for future development quickly translated into revenue growth. I left the business in 2007 to return to freelance consultancy and happily it continues to flourish.
