Responsibilities include:* Educating local, municipal and county officials about natural resource conservation and the need to identify, manage and protect these resources. Assisted public officials in carrying out an action plan to accomplish these tasks.* Educating engineers, contractors and developers of the proper design, installation and maintenance of erosion and storm water controls on construction sites.* Creation of an educational program for Lake county landowners on agricultural and open space land preservation. Worked to encourage landowners to use various preservation tools in an effort to preserve sensitive areas.* Provided technical information and evaluation to landowners for soils investigations, drainage problems, erosion problems, wetlands, floodplains, and building site suitability.Accomplishments:* Appointed Northeast Ohio Urban Committee chairman (1993-1994). The committee provides education and support to colleagues working with urban conservation issues.*Assists in the coordination of the successful application, administration, and completion of a $17,000 EPA 319 Water Quality grant for the creation of a handbook entitled "Common Groundwork: A Practical Guide to Protecting Rural and Urban Land".* Successfully organized and conducted several erosion and stormwater control workshops for public officials, developers, engineers, and contractors.* Coordinated a cost of community services study in cooperation with the American Farmland Trust for the communities of Madison Township and Madison Village.
