Tom is an independent board member of a fourth generation family owned manufacturing business. Tom joined this board after consulting and mentoring the third generation family board members for a year and a half. He is often seen as a trusted advisor by the family and other board members. Tom's personal passion is business grow and success based on increased profits. He accomplishes this by focusing on metrics and tools and the related analytics that enhance and allow success. His experience and network can add profits to most businesses. He loves mentoring and challenging leadership to stretch and achieve beyond the average.While a partner in public accounting, Tom mentored staff that later became partners or left the firm to achieve the CFO or even the CEO role of clients and or relationships that were in place. He made this possible by teaching them to fish, giving them his secret sauce in network development and to allow for focus on how to make a difference in the organizations they chose to serve. Often this required Tom to come along side of and work with them to develop specific skill sets and tools that allowed for success. Often this included encouragement, motivation and demonstrations of the existing expertise they already possessed but were unsure of. Tom's skill set includes focusing on finding the key business issues that prevent the business from success. This has sometimes included pricing issues, wrong customer issues, lack of clear value propositions, poor sales leadership and training, family or ownership squabbles that send the wrong messaging to the team, lack of clear succession planning and leadership that is shackled by their own lack of decision making and focus. He cuts through to the heart of the business fog to challenge leadership to do the right thing, regardless of culture stagnation. l
