Tom Gash empowers top teams and national leaders to make better, faster decisions - through advice, writing and broadcasting on criminal and organisational decision making. He is the Managing Director of Leapwise, a consultancy that helps senior public sector leaders through their most complex decisions to get results for the public. Tom was previously an adviser home affairs in the prime minister's strategy unit and he has supported ministers and public service leaders with major reforms relating to security, justice and immigration. He has also been an advisor to advisors, supporting partners leading strategy and management consulting firms. Having started his career at Boston Consulting Group, Tom is particularly passionate about organisational effectiveness in the public sector, and the complex challenges that leading in a political environment creates. This was the focus of his work as Director of Research at the Institute for Government and which he joined as part of its set up team (2008-15). Tom's book on crime policy CRIMINAL (Penguin 2016) promotes evidence-based crime policy and was a Times 'Thought' Book of the Year. He also writes for publications such as WIRED, The Financial Times, The Times and The Guardian, bringing new ideas and evidence based analysis to debates on political and leadership decision making. Tom is a regular public speaker and media commentator (BBC, Sky, international). He remains a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Government and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at UCL's JDI (the Jill Dando Institute for Security and Crime Science).
