My responsibilities included managing, planning and making photography of all aspects of the firm’s activities; both people and projects in the studio and on location. I worked closely with the firm’s business and communications leaders to prioritise and budget for photography needs, often working directly with the Group Board. I provided creative direction and production management skills, and commissioned and directed freelance photographers when required. I managed distribution, key-wording and rights management of the group’s images, and helped develop digital workflow/QA. I managed photo rental accounts and equipment maintenance needs. I mentored staff required to undertake photography in their local/regional office. • Led the group’s photography on the London Olympic Games, working with Arup and London 2012 stakeholders to secure access to key Arup projects.• Steering group member for firm’s global image database. I was responsible for maintaining and projecting the visual identity of Arup in the Americas. I worked closely with the regional Chairman, Communications Managers and Business leaders to help define the direction for visual communications in the region. I managed freelance design and photographic contributors in support of the communications plan, and managed environmentally-friendly print production for internal and external communications pieces. I also instructed and mentored staff in application of the visual identity, in Adobe CS, and photography techniques.• Presented on the value of visual identity and photography in Arup offices across the region.• Developed design treatments for regional press advertising.

I was responsible for cataloguing, scanning and digital retouching workflow for original photographic film deposited with the firm’s photo library. I was a member of the development team for the firm’s first digital image management tool. I guided digital imaging – resolution, processing methodology and delivery – helping to evolve the digital library. At its launch this web-based tool made available more than 50,000 picture assets to the firm's staff.
