I advise on environmental and product law, with a focus on chemicals regulation, product safety and standards, sustainability and climate change, in both the EU and the UK.My product defence experience includes: strategic compliance advice (REACH/CLP, biocides, food contact materials, etc.); advocacy before EU and UK institutions and agencies; appeals before the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Board of Appeal; regulatory investigations; and commercial disputes.As John Kerry said: We are all climate lawyers now. For me, this has recently meant (for example): working on a claim relating to allowances under UK ETS, the UK’s (cap and trade) carbon emission trading scheme; advising on the regulatory implications of using different refrigerant gases in residential heat pump applications; and various on-going advocacy and compliance projects involving vital chemistries with potential for climate / wider environmental impacts.With a background in complex and technical environmental law (including contaminated land, pollution incidents, environmental permitting and waste regulation), I help clients to navigate regulatory challenges and keep their products on the market.
