In this short term secondment position Hydro Tasmania's commercial business unit, I was able learn rapidly to support the project management of the portfolio optimisation revamp program and drive change within a short time frame. I also contributed to analysis and communications for Hydro Tasmania’s long term investment decisions and in doing so gained valuable exposure to Hydro Tasmania’s commercial operations which set me up for my existing position.

Starting out in production engineering and transitioning into major works after 18 months, I was able to develop a sound knowledge of Hydro Tasmania's mechanical assets by delivering a variety of design, refurbishment repair and testing work. My major achievement was working on the Wilmot Power Station refurbishment where I was site based for 12 months providing technical direction to a number of trades and collaborating with off-site colleagues to make engineering decisions. As a participant in the Monadelphous Graduate Program, I begun within the Water Infrastructure division which focused on the design and construction of water and wastewater facilities throughout South Australia and Queensland. I was responsible for completing and revising design drawings and gained a good understanding of document control processes. My thorough as-build drawing management, contract knowledge and accurate materials tracking were crucial in preparing monthly progress claims to ensure Monadelphous were paid for all the extensive variation work that was completed.
