Freeway Airport has been offering flight instruction, pilot services and aircraft maintenance in the Baltimore-Washington area for over 50 years. I took my first flight lesson when I was 11 years old and have been trying to get back in the air ever since! I started at Freeway working the front desk answering phone calls and dispatching the fleet of light single-engine piston engine aircraft. Now I instruct to promote general aviation and keep my skills sharp.

Starting as an International Assistance Coordinator in 2006 to handle everything from new travel insurance claims to mediating customer complaints, I was immediately thrust into managing travel emergencies and their all-encompassing emotional and psychological drama. Once I proved to be steady in managing emergency travel cases I was made a supervisor and led a team of coordinators. Here I was able to hone the tracking of the department’s key performance indicators and assist in the management of a 24-7 call center. I was frequently called on after-hours to sort out customer escalations and provide instructions for prompt and diplomatic resolutions. As the company grew the Logistics Department was developed as transportation specialists and to oversee the management of high profile, high pressure and sensitive medical travel cases. I was brought on as a Senior Logistics Specialist having a solid base of customer service and understanding of client expectations built in my previous operational roles.I have coordinated high risk and high cost (100,000+ USD) air ambulance repatriations and evacuations for clients such as CSA, Sun Life, CNA, Chubb and multiple lines of Cigna. My proudest moments include the lead role in coordinating evacuations and repatriations during major catastrophes and crises. These include the 2009 Haiti Earthquake, a large hotel fire in Northern Iraq in 2010, and a vehicle-born improvised explosive device attack in Afghanistan in 2014.Alongside emergency operations I develop a travel agency to match the needs of the Travel Assistance Department. They had no prior experience in transporting medical patients prior to 2008 and now consistently handle high touch reservations involving medical clearance, stretcher flights and the occasional Patient Transport Compartment (PTC) on Lufthansa. The account has doubled in size over seven years and now spends up to six million USD yearly on travel services.
