Quality Control and Homologation Manager for the past 5 years with Romaquip Ltd. - a manufacturer and supplier of superior quality Stainless Steel winter road maintenance equipment, such as salt spreader and tipping vehicles, body swap systems and snow ploughs to Ireland, the UK and Continental Europe along with a highly successful new design in Kerbside Recyclate collection vehicles - after having previously been in a mechanical design role for 2 years with the same company. Before that, I was Engineering Design Manager for a small agricultural and commercial trailer manufacturer in Co. Tyrone for 2 years.From a Quality Control point of view, I have gained knowledge on assessing and better knowing how to utilise team members more effectively and efficiently, by identifying key skills, and helping to realise the potential of members through appropriate training. In addition to this, the role has helped me to gain a better understanding of process management, identifying where weaknesses are and, either revising a procedure i.e. adding/removing a step or introducing a new procedure, with the aim to assisting team members in carrying out their duties more efficiently and contentedly. A major part of ensuring operations ran smoothly was to encourage and facilitate a strong line of communication at an interdepartmental level i.e. Stores, Engineering, Production, HR etc. as well as production floor cells. I was part of a team successful in winning and delivering a number of large contracts (National Highways, SWP-Suez).The homologation aspect of the role required me to delve further into the world of standards and legislation, in order to be able to liaise effectively with the National Standards Authority of Ireland and the vehicle approval and certification authorities in Great Britain. As part of gaining and maintaining our approvals, it was my responsibility to maintain an internal QMS and manage audits conducted by these authorities. As a result of this I had to create and manage an internal auditing system. The introduction of an updated EU-wide vehicle legislative framework shortly before Brexit and the introduction of new vehicle models by the company presented an enormous challenge, but I managed to process and attain two new approvals within 6 months and without affecting product output.Having previously been in Mechanical Design roles I still retain all the technical ability relating to this competency.I am skilled in the use of MS Office, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, Cambridge Engineering Selector, Ansys, BySoft 7 and ECi M1.
