Telecommunications Engineer
CurrentI have been working at KCOM as a full time technical specialist engineer over the past 4+ years.I first started as a Field Technician and have been promoted to my current position.My daily duties include running fibre cables, installing routers, switches, firewalls, cat5/6, Smartcomms telephone systems, wifi mesh systems, Ruckas wifi, Cisco Miraki, building optical network terminational systems.Alongside my day to day I have also been signed off and trained on Poles and underground installation.This requires a knowledge of the fibre structure and how it works, I know how the fibre gets from the exchange all the way through exchanges, OLT's, splitters, poles etc.I have also been given the responsibility of training many of the other new starter engineers, I have also been asked to do senior cover many times, this involves being in charge of a full team of engineers.This roll has given me many useful skills in planning, time management, team management, a wide array of fibre skills, wifi skills and people skills.
