I am European and UK Patent Attorney dealing with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Physics related inventions. I have special interest in products and technology areas with a mix of Mechanical, Electrical and Software elements.The experience I have with writing patent specifications across a range of areas from mechanical inventions to software cases over the last 20 years combined with a background in physics means that I can bring quick understanding and expertise in dealing with complex products and areas where these aspects meld together. One area where I have found that this applies is that of Analytical, Medical and Laboratory Equipment and Devices. Others include Manufacturing Machines and Data Telemetry Systems.Sometimes these elements will come up in a single invention or product, and sometimes in a range of products produced by one entity or division.Examples of technologies on which I have worked include: MRI machines, Mass Spec machines, High speed drilling machines, Oil and Gas telemetry systems, Spectrometers and associated software based analysis systems, Laboratory sample processing systems, Internet based search, communication and monitoring systems, Garden watering products, Heart pacing systems and other mechanical and electrical medical devices. Outside of UK and Europe, I have particular experience of prosecuting applications in US, China and Japan via local attorneys with whom we have good connections.ApproachI will adapt my approach dependent on client needs but most enjoy providing hands on, proactive, in house type support where required by clients.
