I was hired as a Technical Specialist and promoted to Manager of Government Affairs in 2009 to advance the general aviation industry position on issues such as NextGen, UAS integration, airspace and procedure re-design, and aircraft certification before the FAA, DoD, NTSB, and industry stakeholder groups. Recognized by RTCA for Outstanding Leadership as Co-Chairman of the NOTAM Improvement Panel where I helped lead more than 2-dozen representatives of airports, airlines, business aviation, and other industry stakeholders to a consensus recommendation on improving the U.S. NOTAM system. Served as Chairman of the 22-person Cost Recovery Committee, comprised of senior representatives of manufacturing, retail, and membership organizations. Despite conflicting interests, the committee provided a consensus recommendation to the FAA on digital charting monetization reform. When Sequestration threatened the closure of hundreds of general aviation control towers, I mobilized industry representatives and led an economic and operational analysis of the proposal which was successfully used to retain control tower services at all affected airports.
