In the IT world, attention to detail is critical to success. I have leveraged my detail-oriented experience as a DevOps Manager, Project Manager, Business Analyst, and Software Developer to lead teams and manage budgets and departments. This, coupled with my strategic approach to risk management, has enabled me to lead projects to create elegant technology platforms and tools that attract clients and facilitate internal operations. At Great Lakes Fund Solutions I led the project to expand the legacy fund administration system from an “admins only” system to an SAAS platform (eSuperior). eSuperior is available to multiple stakeholders including fund administrators, broker / dealers, advisors, and investors. eSuperior is now our flagship product.I created a five-year business plan to support business strategies, improve infrastructure, and identify and mitigate risks. The top two risks identified were: • Out growing in-house servers and the need to migrate to AWS virtual servers to allow for flexible client growth; • Need to replace eSuperior’s legacy software base with a new back-end system built upon current technology and standards.I addressed the first issue, leading the migration of eSuperior from in-house servers to a secure network of over 50 AWS servers, including web, data, backup, and NAT firewall servers. Replacing in house servers, hardware, and infrastructure, each client has dedicated AWS servers that is sized to their needs and expanded as necessary. I addressed the second issue by leading the migration of eSuperior from a 1990’s technology base to a Python / MySql platform. The new platform is more flexible, web-pages provide multi-device support (desktop / tablet/ phone), and supports a RESTful API. These two examples typify my approach, setting the strategy, building teams that support the implementation, and strengthening the technical skills of our staff have all been key factors in the success of several major projects. I lead stakeholders through a careful assessment of their needs and technical requirements, building project plans that identify potential issues, mitigate risks, and establish the conditions for seamless execution. Throughout my career, I have managed highly skilled project teams with deep experience in agile methodologies. As a hands-on director, I enjoy guiding teams through the process of attending to the multitude of technical details that eventually come together to provide user-friendly, compliant, and highly functional solutions.
