Tom Walker is an internationally renowned bartender and winner of the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition. A career bartender for nine years, Tom has been involved in the hospitality profession for over 15 years and has worked at some of the top bars in the UK and US.Starting out as a glass collector in Newcastle after graduating from a journalism degree, Tom has on gone onto work as a professional bartender at prestigious venues such as Attaboy and Fresh Kills (NYC), Bramble Bar & Lounge (Edinburgh, UK) and the prestigous American Bar at The Savoy (London, UK)During his time at The Savoy, Tom was part of the team that were consistently nominated for awards at the Spirited Awards at Tales of the Cocktails held in New Orleans every year, including ‘International Cocktail Menu of the Year (2013 & 2014)’, ‘International Bar Team of the Year (2014), ‘International Hotel Bar of the Year (2014) and ‘International Bartender of the Year (2014)’. However, Tom’s biggest achievement came when he won the national and global finals of the Bacardi Legacy Global Cocktail Competition in 2014, becoming one of the only British bartenders to win a global title.Outside of the bar, Tom has featured in publications such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Vice, and has trained bartenders and conducted workshops in cities as far as Singapore, Moscow, Mumbai and Melbourne.Tom has also consulted on drink strategies for brands such as Monkey Shoulder, Dewars and Boodles Gin, and has been included in panels for several talks at Tales of the Cocktails, one of the biggest beverage and cocktail conventions in the world.

Not only was I fortunate to receive an extensive education in both spirits and cocktails, I also had numerous spirit and category trainings with companies such as Diageo and Pernod Ricard. We also had well known luminaries such as Geraldine Coates, Dave Broom and Charles MacLean come and do talks and workshops with the team. Some of the main highlights during my time in Edinburgh include launching the barrel-aged Affinity Cocktail in conjunction with Dr. Bill Lumsden of Glenmorangie, and winning the national Diplomatico Rum competition at the end of 2011. Set against a backdrop of education, learning and numerous distillery trip to sites including Islay, Springbank, Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Glenmorangie, Auchentoshan, DUSA (the home of Pampero and Diplomatico) Tanqueray, Plymouth and Beefeater (amongst others), working at Bramble Bar was one a breakout moment for my career.
