Offers digital television service operators as well as their hardware, software, programming and advertising partners unparalleled expertise in systems architecture, embedded systems development, end-to-end systems integration, testing, and program managementAs VP of Engineering I was tasked with both building out an engineering team as well as creating and maintaining an engineering reputation equivalent to the overall reputation of Digital Beam in the industry and specifically with current customers. I helped develop the feature set for the XR11, Comcast’s first voice recognition remote control using RF4CE technology. This included working in the Remote Control group, doing architecture and code for RDK integration across all settop platforms. I was instrumental in getting remote control features such as voice recognition and firmware updates working and integrated. This required deep knowledge of RF4CE protocol, the RDK architecture and build system, and all settop platforms.I was also tasked to perform an architectural assessment of the RDK stack with a focus on the HAL / API structure. This resulted in detailed documentation which has been used to further define the RDK software stack.

As Director of Engineering at Wowza, I took over responsibility for the module that interfaced with many of the Content Delivery Networks as well as published content to other ingest points. This was a new area for me since I had always worked more in cable TV and therefore ingestion of streams. The publish point of view was remarkably similar but dramatically different. I was also tasked with the development of our Cloud development and prototyping. This allowed me to get first hand experience with both Amazon and Microsoft cloud platforms as well as a few others.

As Sr. Director Engineering I was responsible for all Service Provider related embedded software and systems including the flagship products, Total Guide and IGuide. I managed a team of around 30 engineers in multiple locations. As Sr. Director of Architecture I was tasked with researching and planning out advanced forward looking uses for Rovi's technologies and infrastructure.

Founder. Built company up from six people to almost 50 before being purchased by Rovi Corp. Professional services for ITV industry. Designed and developed systems and products for many companies in the Cable industry. Primarily responsibility was the charge of all development including acquisition of PS jobs and often was a direct contributor during the project as architect and/or developer.

Responsibilities included all application software created for the Americas. I designed the interactive advertising engine and many of the iAds for DishNetwork as well as other cable and satellite companies. I managed the team that created the Weather channel application, the Dish Channel 100 portal and many of the other applications. I also worked as part of the Architecture group on advanced parts of the middleware and new design elements.

Intellocity was a startup professional services company in the Interactive and Enhanced TV space. I was responsible for creative product planning and design. My team and I produced several products that sold through other major industry names.

At Prevue and after acquisition TV Guide On Screen I worked primarily on software for the settop box as Interactive TV was just getting started. Initially with GI and SA advanced analog boxes and then into the new digital settops. I was privileged to work on the Time Warner Full Service Network to create the first interactive version of the Prevue scrolling guide that got a standing ovation at the FSN release party in 1994. The ability to control the scroll was a universally desired feature. I managed a team of about 10 engineers to work with all the current cable settop boxes to design Prevue Express, which was one of the first on screen guides to be embedded in the advanced digital settops.
