My practice focuses on litigation, including intellectual property, franchise and distribution, trade secret, unfair competition, Internet and media law matters. I have extensive experience handling litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission. I have represented both large public (Fortune 100) and smaller private companies, and both companies in tech industries, including search engine/Internet companies, software and hardware manufacturers, and semiconductor manufacturers, and companies in traditional industries, including aircraft manufacturers, carpet manufacturers, educational institutions, heavy equipment manufacturers, barbecue grill manufacturers, traditional media companies, and others. I have handled a wide variety of intellectual property litigation matters, including patent, trademark, trade dress, and copyright infringement claims. I have represented clients in connection with infringement of clients’ rights over the Internet, including cybersquatting claims, and have obtained removal of infringing material from the Internet. I have represented clients in connection with franchise and distribution issues, breach of contract and business tort claims, defamation and media access issues, and claims for injunctive relief. I also have devoted a substantial amount of practice to public interest matters, including pro bono representation of indigent clients in connection with habeas corpus matters, including post-conviction death penalty cases, Section 1983 civil rights matters, and related appellate litigation. I have assisted numerous pro bono clients in obtaining federal trademark registrations and negotiating license agreements. I have represented clients seeking asylum through the Iraqi Refugee Assistance Project.
