I was promoted to Geoenvironmental Manager in January 2023 and my remit was expanded to cover the following:-Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessment/ Site Desktop Study Reports;-Phase 2 Site Investigation & Reports;-Remediation Strategy & Implementation Plan;-Verification/ Validation Reporting;-Geotechnical Design;-Remediation Design;-Ground Gas & Water Assessment;-Pricing of Site Investigations, professional services & full remediation/ enabling works Contracts;-Procurement for Site Investigation works, remediation/ enabling works Contracts & Sub-Contract services;-Project Management of Site Investigations & remediation/ enabling works;-Health & Safety;-Cost Management; and,-Youth Development.

I joined C&R as a Resident Geoenvironmental Engineer for their Port Loop, Phase 3 project, overseeing geoenvironmental delivery from site investigation to validation of remediation works. I was retained to provide further RE services on their following projects. My specific duties included the following items:-Ground Investigation Design and Management;-Earthworks Design and Materials Management Plan production;-Technical reporting (Remediation Strategy & Implementation Plan, Construction Environmental Management Plan, Waste & Resources Action Plan, Weekly Geoenvironmental Reports and the Validation Report);-Hotspot remediation and validation (organic & inorganic contaminants);-Chemical and geotechnical sampling;-Hazardous, Non Hazardous and Inert Waste Management; and,-Surveying & setting out using both TS16 & GNSS Rover.I also have performed non-technical roles during this time, including Quantity Surveying and Project Management.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, I worked remotely with DBS Environmental, producing reports for sites in the North East of England. Works include the following:-Phase 1 Desktop Studies and Preliminary Risk Assessment reports;-Phase 2 Ground Investigation reports; and,-Ground gas monitoring, assessments & reporting.

Following completion of my degree, my professional career commenced with Tier Consult, where I was responsible for the following:-Ground investigations;-Geotechnical assessments & reporting;-Contaminated land and groundwater assessments and reporting; -Ground gas monitoring, assessment & reporting;-Phase 1 Preliminary Risk Assessments/ Desktop Study reporting; and,-Phase 2 Ground Investigation Reporting.

During my second summer break in University, I worked with CPUK Civils and Remediation on a remediation & enabling works Contract in Rochdale to deliver a development platform for follow on construction of a new community shopping centre and cinema. The project employed extensive lime modification and cement stabilisation of site won Made Ground to enable a shallow foundation option for the new structure. My remit included the following:-Setting out earthworks using a TS16 & GNSS Rover; -Surveying stockpiles, hotspots, base of excavation, piles etc.;-In-situ geotechnical testing (mexeprobe, shear vane, DCP, plate testing); and,-Chemical and geotechnical sampling.

During the summer break following completion of my first year of University, I worked in a Civil Engineering design office, where I was responsible for the following tasks:-CAD drawings of engineers designs;-Soakaway testing, data assessment & reporting in accordance with BRE365;-Flood Risk Assessments;-Lux level surveys;-Drainage assessments; and,-Site walkovers and assessments.

I spent my first summer before University working in a Geotechnical Laboratory. My scope included the following:-Atterberg testing;-Gradings;-Moisture content;-Triaxial testing;-CBR plate testing;-Soil and rock description to BS5930;-Gas monitoring;-Trial pitting; and,-Geotechnical log production using HoleBase.

During college holidays I spent time working with local Joiners. Construction works included: -Suspended timber floors;-Roofs & ceilings; -Partitions, skirting, door trims and internal fittings;-External gazebos & fencing;-Replacement of bay windows; -Driveway construction including kerbs, aggregates & asphalt;-Landscaping; and,-Shallow foundations.
