Hanno (founder of the company ‘Earthman’) is specialized in the consultancy of projects implementing the rammed earth technique. During this collaboration I took part to several building sites realizing rammed earth walls and floors, clay plaster, as well as design and construction of a tiny house.

Participation to the renovation of a family house located in Vorarlberg, Austria. The construction strategy consisted in the re-use and upcycling of existing materials, and the introduction of natural materials, mainly wood and clay. More than 100 tons of earth material were used in the house.The construction was mostly carried out by inexperienced workers, leaving plenty of room for creativity and experimentation.

Initiator and main researcher in the project 'TERRA-ink: additive earth manufacturing for emergency architecture'. The project got granted with 50.000€ as one of the winner of the '4TU.Bouw Lighthouse projects 2017'.The main goal of the research is to develop an innovative, sustainable and cost efficient building system as a solution for emergency architecture in post-disaster and migration crisis events.In particular, the aim is to design an efficient temporary housing unit realized by 3Dprinting with local soil. This construction system allows to lower the cost and provides benefits in terms of simplified logistics, low environmental impact and adaptability to adjust to different situations and requirements.During this one-year-project we will investigate in particular the structural stability, durability and comfort of the shelter. Different wall geometries and earth-based material recipes will be explored and tested.A full scale wall portion will be produced as a prototype and proof of concept.

Guest researcher at the Facade Research Group, Department of Architectural Engineering & Technology at the Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment. Focused on Energy Calculations and Analysis. Implementing Design Builder software to evaluate different facade envelopes for the refurbishment of existing buildings.

Responsible for conducting on-site energy inspections in public school buildings with the aid of specialized technical equipment (e.g. thermal camera, sensors for CO2, temperature and moisture).Analyzing the collected data to conduct energy audits and propose technical improvements.
