I retired early from Accenture, where I’d led the company’s European Government Relations activities, and now use my skills, pro bono, in the third sector. I’m a Trustee at The Orpheus Centre Trust (a performing arts college that inspires and enables young disabled people to live independent, fulfilling lives within their community); of Arthritis Action; and of Epilepsy Action. And in November 2024, I was elected to the Board of Governors at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, provider of mental health, learning disability and neurological care services across the north of England.During my professional career I was privileged to live and work in Tokyo (seconded to the FCO as the UK's Atomic Energy Counsellor), Brussels, and London. Now I'm loving life in the north Cumbrian fells, just a stone's throw from Hadrian's Wall. Well, not a stone's throw exactly but you know what I mean :) I love photography and I spend a large amount of time trying (unsuccessfully) to tire out my German Wirehaired-Shorthaired Pointer X rescue, Theo. He lets me pretend I’m the pack leader. And Murphy - the blind, 3-legged Maine Coon - honours us with his presence.
