  • Doosan Gridtech
    Chief Strategy Officer
    Doosan Gridtech Oct 2012 - Jul 2018
    Bellevue, Washington, Us
Doosan Group, a $16B international company headquartered in South Korea, is a global leader in power generation – boilers, turbines and generators – and is now providing clean power solutions with energy storage, fuel cells, and wind turbines. Doosan acquired Seattle-based 1Energy Systems in 2016 to develop the software platform needed to integrate distributed energy resources (DER) into the electric power system. Out of this union, a new company was formed called Doosan GridTech. Doosan GridTech's vision is to be the global leader in delivering technology solutions for the digital, distributed electric grid, enabling widespread growth of renewable solar and wind power. As the Chief Strategy Officer, I was responsible for company strategic relationships. I also had responsibility for internal strategy execution, helping align key functions of planning, business development, resource and capacity development, and process improvement.

  • 1Energy Systems
    Executive Vice President, Operations
    1Energy Systems Oct 2012 - Jun 2016
1Energy Systems was a clean energy software startup company. It provided control system software and power system engineering services to utilities for the deployment of mega-watt scale energy storage systems, to integrate rapidly increasing amounts of distributed energy resources (solar and wind power) into the grid. As the highest executive to the CEO/President, I was responsible for business development, customer support, strategic partner relationships, and legal operations. The company grew organically to 23 employees (customer/employee funded, no outside or VC funding), while competing and winning business against heavy-weight companies such as GE, ABB, and Schneider Electric. In June 2016, the company was sold to Doosan Heavy Industries, a $19B Korean conglomerate specializing in power generation, and is now Doosan GridTech. Achievement highlights: third full-time employee of the company; managed vendor selection process for the Snohomish PUD MESA-1 energy storage project, and developed extensive contacts with both battery and inverter companies; helped organize and grow the Modular Energy Storage Alliance (MESA), a nonprofit industry organization which provides open, non-proprietary communication standards for the energy storage components and software; and responsible for all legal issues affecting the company, including sale of the business.
