I am an independent advisor and non-executive director with a passion for helping especially family-run businesses to renew and transform. Over the years, I have served on over 15 boards and advisory boards, varying from start-ups, associations, foundations and long-established family companies to a publicly traded company. As a problem solver and strategic thinker, I help with direction setting, strategy development and execution, strategic transformation, customer focus, change leadership, result orientation, and a growth mindset. Neste’s transformation was named by Harvard Business Review as one of the “Top 20 Business Transformations of the Last Decade” in 2019. I headed the commercial and sales transformation. Earlier in my career I worked as a mergers and acquisitions lawyer in New York City and London. I’m deeply committed to environmental sustainability and I am Chair of the John Nurminen Foundation, which works to clean up the heavily polluted Baltic Sea. I regularly join Arctic expeditions to study the impacts of climate change and do science outreach. I often speak at conferences and as a guest on podcasts. In 2020, I co-authored a children’s book on climate change and microplastics in the oceans with renowned Finnish publishing house Otava and in 2023 was featured on Discovery Channel (Finland) in the 10 episode TV-series on climate change. I have Masters’ Degrees in Law from both the University of Helsinki and Columbia University (where I was a Fulbright and Rotary scholar).
