Trainer - Good Gym Sheffield
CurrentThe GoodGym Charity exists to support people to combine getting fit with doing good.GoodGym runners combine getting fit with doing good in following three ways. The GoodGym charity supports these activities by providing the training, tech infrastructure, insurance, financial management, health and safety processes and communications support.I organise weekly group runs which are like running flash mobs for good. We run to community organisations and help them with tasks like clearing allotments or renovating classrooms. We pair runners with isolated older people - we call them ‘coaches’ as they motivate the runners to keep going - and the runners commit to make a weekly visit as part of their workout. We coordinate missions in which runners support isolated people and community organisations with one-off household tasks and odd jobs.We aim to create a world in which no-one is left alone and in which everyone’s exercise is meaningful. We aim to operate in every city in the world. In the short term we aim to operate in every city in the UK.

Ghost Peloton - Ride Leader
I was the primary cycle leader for the largest performance event of the Yorkshire 100 day cultural festival; The Ghost Peloton. The event was two nights of live performance that took place in an unused brewery car park in central Leeds. The performance combined large scale choreographed bicycle movements set in unison to a backdrop of music and lighting effects on the performers and their bikes. Throughout the training and during the main performances I worked with the choreographers of Phoenix Dance (Northern Ballet), the directors of the arts organisation NVA and the cyclists to ensure the performance was as faultless as it could possibly be. On the group sections I was the main leader responsible for the 35 cyclists following behind me and relying on me to make the correct movements at the correct time in front of an audience of just fewer than 2000 each night. I also wrote a blog about my experience which was published in the popular ‘Culture Vulture’, Leeds focused website.
