To provide hot-line support to customers in electrical meter installation which includes problem solving, meter wiring and meter programming.

In the early 5 years, I worked in Instrumentation Branch for instrument repair, calibration and standard laboratory administration. In year 1999, I leaded the team to obtain ISO9000 accreditation from HKQAA. In mid of 2000, as part of a staff development plan, I was appointed to be the acting Instrumentation Manager to handle the daily administration work of Instrumentation Branch. In year 2001, I was promoted to First Engineer in System Engineering Branch. I was then appointed to be the project manager to take up the task of establishing a Power Quality Monitoring System (PQMS) in CLP Power. I was the one to put this project forward until commissioning. Work includes the preparation of project justification document, project implementation plan, planned budget as well as the cost-benefit analysis. I was also responsible to supervise a project team with staff from IT department, telecommunication branch, third party systems, quality assurance team and local supporting team of the contractor. Routine meetings were held to keep track of the project progress and to perform alignment on the project plan. The system was commissioned in Year 2004. Over 390 monitoring points were established in the systems. I was then proposed and established a calculation methodology to produce a PQ index for CLP power, which was used to identify the PQ performance of CLP Power and also for international benchmarking purpose. Apart from project management, I was also responsible to design and deliver seminars to major customers as well as the internal staff to enhance their knowledge and awareness on the Power Quality issues. The Power Quality Exhibition Centre, a number of leaflets/booklets, presentations and demonstration boards were designed for this purpose. I was also willing to share my experience in terms of publications and presented them in international conferences.

I was responsible to carry out technical research in Power Electronics. Under the supervision of the Vice Department head, Dr. YS Lee, to perform technical research in switch mode power supply, which include circuit design, computer simulation (Pspice), circuit implementation, data recording and analyses. Our focus was to develop computer models and design tools for converters. I participated in developing the models and to verify the result by comparing the experimental data. Besides, I was also required to participate in design and construct different types of converter for verification purpose. A reference book edited by Dr. YS Lee was published by Marcel Dekker in 1993. I was one key staff to participate in preparing the data, figures and proofreading as well.

I was responsible to carry out Avionics Instrument Repair, Calibration and Workshop Maintenance in the Radio Workshop. This was my first job and it served as my learning period in my career life. I learnt the basic testing, calibration and trouble-shooting technique in avionic radio system. I participated in maintaining the RF equipment for HF communication system, Weather radar system, Distant measuring equipment and Navigator system. I developed from a tradesman to an experienced technician. Apart from technical knowledge, I learnt the best practise in quality management. I was required to comply with all standards set by Quality Assurance Section.
