As a faculty PI and core director, I have helped to establish some of the world's premier magnetic resonance research centers at the University of Texas Southwestern, the University of Alabama Birmingham, the Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital, and the University of Minnesota. Now as founding Director of the new Columbia MR Research Center, I am working with my many talented colleagues to launch a new center on a larger scale made possible by a distributed model. In this new Center hosting 16 MR systems, the Fu School of Engineering and Applied Science, the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, and the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research will be linked together and with collaborators around the world through a commercial cloud platform for coordinated administration, essentially infinite data logging and maximum on-demand computing required by a modern, globally networked laboratory.
