Assistant Store Manager, Safeway
Alberta, Canada
Reporting to the Store Manager and District Operator, my primary role is to ensure the customer experience is met/exceeded and the overall brand experience maintained day-in, and day-out. Working alongside the in-store Management team, I ensure sales, merchandising and back shop initiatives are in place; and relevant communications and expectations are cascaded for business success. In 2016/2017, I tested the expansion of in-store ethnic offerings in two store locations (Saddle Ridge and Whitehorn). Supported by Category and District Management, the results of this became a strong “proof of concept” - that the company ultimately expanded upon in 2018 and executed in a more formal extent in a number of ethnic-oriented stores. In Fall 2019, I also oversaw the successful planning and implementation of the in-store Natural, Organic, and Wellness Market at Garrison Woods Safeway. This required close coordination between marketing, category, ops, vendors, & renovation crews. Sales lift from this, and other improvements have helped add notable value to the stores' Fiscal 2020 bottom line. In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, I also led the Garrison store team through a period of remarkable change - helping customers and staff navigate the new normal - executing in-store, company and Public Health priorities fully and immediately, to keep everyone safe and informed. I have taken on projects including multiple division merchandising “Show and Sells”, as well as senior management / investor store tours. In the past two years, I have also filled in as relief Store Manager in various Calgary area locations. In May 2020, I relocated to Central Alberta and joined the Red Deer Safeway team.My role is supported directly by a second assistant manager as well as a management trainee. As a team, we support our store family of 120+; including hiring, mentoring and ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to do their work safely, and productively every day.
