As part of the Activity and Notes Team:* Was a lead engineer on the Tumblr Notes redesign to drive deeper community engagement. Contributed to full stack development for the overhaul: iOS, Android, Web and Backend.* Technical optimizations: Improved page load time on Activity system by over 90% via database optimizations and dead code removal.

Engineering Lead for Finance Playable Streams, a video creation pipeline which automatically generated updated Trending Stock news throughout the day and published them to the Yahoo content ecosystem.The system was powered by a Nodejs web service, Redis queue and an OpenGL C++ video rendering service worker. This was one of the first projects in Yahoo to run partially on public cloud with AWS.

I was responsible for leading the backend tech team at Qwiki. Qwiki was a video creation technology company which was acquired by Yahoo in 2013.Lead the development of the Qwiki Reference product which transformed Wikipedia articles into interactive videos. Implemented a text mining and image processing system of the Wikipedia dataset. using Scala with Hadoop on Amazon EMR. Application supported both bulk processing and online processing. The product was integrated with Bing.com search engine in 2012 via a partnership deal.

Developed and deployed Quid's data collection, analysis, and search systems for financial intelligence applications.Migrated Quid's automated data collection system from a legacy homegrown PHP system to an ActiveMQ/Camel messaging-based collection system hosted on EC2 to handle both on-demand and batch data processing. I developed supplementary big data processors using Cascading/Hadoop/Elastic MapReduce. Created text extraction processor and ngram generator using Lucene and stored data in S3. Analysts were able to interact with the data using Hive. Also developed a faceted entity search system using Apache Solr for our analysts.

Designed and developed RAPIER: a satellite image detection framework in C++ for the US Navy and allies. Utilized OpenCV and OSSIM open-source libraries. At the time, RAPIER was used to develop a ship detection application. RAPIER has since been adapted to cover fire and aircraft detection. Designed and developed the QuickBooks Database Manager in C#. The QuickBooks Database Manager allowed multiple accountants to work on the same account file simultaneously in Quickbooks. Released with QuickBooks 2007.
