A self-taught, self-made, serial entrepreneur, with a relentless work ethic, Tom built a successful own brand online business from zero to $2 million turnover in four years. How did he achieve that?Well, let’s go back to where it all started.Tom grew up living over a shop in Stockport. Pretty much from when he could walk, he worked in that shop run by his Mum and also in his Dad’s delivery business. This was where he developed his strong work ethic. Don’t work, don’t eat. Growing up and getting up to work hard graft at 4am was the norm.So, did he take over the family businesses? No! Some tough love by Mum and Dad. At 16 he had to make his own way. And that’s just what he did and became fiercely competitive, fighting his way to independence.Where did that competitive spirit come from? Keen on sports, although seldom joining in organised sport (no time!), by chance at the age of 11, Tom found himself taking part in a 3000m race at an athletic meeting in Stockport and he won. Recruited by Stockport Harriers, he went on to compete all over the country. Competing at under 15 level Tom, ran 3000m at a time not far off that of a certain Mohamed Farah!Following a serious accident that almost cost him his leg, Tom had the opportunity to move to Portugal to convalesce. It was there he set up his online business. But this was not the usual reseller business. No, every one of the products was designed by Tom. There has been no shortage of bidders wanting to buy his business. He’d like to say “Not for sale” but who knows.Now with multiple business interests, Tom is in demand with both startups to set systems up and established businesses to be that ‘agent of change’ to disrupt and improve.Oh, did we mention websites? He builds lots and lots of websites.
