Responsibilities included optimizing risk retention and risk transfer, gathering underwriting information for annual renewals, managing insurance brokers, reviewing contractual indemnity, negotiating premium and coverage terms and coordinating enterprise-wide risk management initiatives. Additional responsibilities included managing the $16 billion all-risk property insurance program, presenting strategic risk management solutions to senior management, managing the captive insurance company, evaluating alternative risk transfer programs, monitoring and forecasting liability costs, managing information systems vendors, and budgeting and controlling departmental spending. • Achieved $32 million savings on comprehensive general liability insurance by negotiating retentions and multi-year programs. • Successfully negotiated several major property damage and business interruption claims, each in excess of $10 million. • Recommended a risk-sharing guaranteed cost insurance program that resulted in $38 million of savings in worker’s compensation program costs over two years. • Successfully implemented Risk Management Information System for casualty claims and additional Information Technology project for early loss reporting to be used by all field employees. • Realized a significant reduction in the annual cost of liability claims by implementing the organizational structure, staffing, and policies and procedures of a new 18-member claim department. • Created loss development factors to support claim reserves.
