Common Platform is the cloud hosting and development system which powers the products and services which make ITV, ITV. It’s comprised of an expertly integrated set of open-source, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS components which together allow the ITV Hub to scale for Love Island, talent payments to be made securely to Ant & Dec and programmes to be reliably broadcast around the country 24x7x365.From the outset I managed the platform as a product. This included working with internal customers to assess their needs, delivering requirements through iterative development, frequent collection and incorporation of feedback, using value to prioritise a transparent backlog, and maintaining a roadmap aligned to a strategy and vision.I was also accountable for the well-being, success and happiness of the Platform Engineering team. I believe that happy teams are high performing, so fostered a culture where people felt safe to debate, challenge, experiment, make mistakes, and have fun. As the team grew I introduced (and managed through) a first line of lead engineers whilst ensuring our culture wasn’t negatively affected.

Global Radio is the largest commercial radio broadcaster UK and owns many well-known stations like Capital, Heart, Classic FM, Gold and LBC. As Infrastructure Architect I was responsible for designing and building a new platform to consolidate their existing platforms onto. I deployed heavy KVM and DB servers for the CMS into the on-premise DCs, and lighter cache servers at colo/IXP centres.
