Blueprint is a new non-profit that is attempting to catalyse breakthroughs in humanity's ability to prevent, mitigate, and suppress pandemics. I assisted Blueprint in its project of mapping new biosecurity interventions.

Recruited by the news department as a specialist in news features. My adjective allowance was 35% greater than is typical for a reporter.

The same as previously, but with less commissioning, more writing, and an unchanged amount of goofing around.

My remit included daytripping, video presenting, interviewing and exploring the science of well-being. My own well-being suffered considerably during the various humiliating assignments necessitated by my role as in-house guinea pig.

I was sent on loan to the Press Association and the Newcastle Chronicle and Journal before being beamed back up to the mothership, where I spent time in the sports, features, business and news departments.

My coffee-making can't have been too bad becaue an internship turned into regular shifts and freelance reporting work.

Redesigned paper inside and out. Rebooted the ailing website and broke various national stories. Also held positions of features editor and sports editor, and enjoyed the jammiest of sinecures as the paper's restaurant critic.

Conscious of my impending need to make myself useful in professional workplaces, I learnt to make coffee.
