I was acting Team Leader/ Shift Leader for all PSD details from high visibility press conferences, media events and launch day escorts to low profile one car daily escorts and personal details. This included the Astronaut Corp (made up of military officers), NASA Directors (retired military officers), visiting International Dignitaries, US and State Congressmen and Senators as well as working with Secret Service for POTUS and VPOTUS visits. I worked with advanced teams, conducted briefs and de-briefs, route planning, safe havens, communications and was NASA’s liaison with the visiting PSD details. I was Team Leader on board armed helo flights for PSD movements and Project Noble Eagle. (NASA Shuttle Defense Plan) I had overall control of the daily operations of the security force assigned to SWAT. I ensured the compliance with applicable regulations and contractual requirements as related to the team. During a High Risk Incident, I was acting commander in the absence of the SWAT Commander. If commander was present, I assisted in the formulation of tactical options and directed the Assault Team Leaders. I ensured compliance with Federal, State, Local, NASA and Air Force laws, regulations and requirements. I was promoted to Lieutenant in 2007; Training Supervisor became one of my duties. These duties included the following: Ensuring SWAT personnel are trained in weapons usage and special skills. I was involved in all curriculum design and development to clients’ standards and approval. Instructing and overseeing daily training to include: Executive Protection, Protective Operations, CQB tactics, Launch Operations, weapons training, hostage situations, emergency responses, motorcade/convoy operations, helicopter operations, maritime operations, waterborne operations and physical and mental conditioning. I ensured personnel maintain flight logs and flight equipment for helicopter operations.
