Tom Pitegoff is a business transactions lawyer whose core practice is franchise law. He represents both established and start-up franchisors in a variety of industries. His clients are local, regional, national and international. They include franchisors, multi-unit franchise owners, franchisee groups, and franchise buyers. Tom also advises businesses on alternatives to franchising, including license, distribution and service agreements. He also acts as general U.S. counsel for foreign companies and he provides outside general counsel services for U.S. companies. He is Vice Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Business Law Section and former chair of that section’s Franchise Law Committee. He is a member of the Legal Legislative Committee of the International Franchise Association. He is a former member of the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising and a former editor of the Forum’s Franchise Law Journal. He has written extensively on franchise law and other business law topics both for bar journals and books and for those in the business of franchising.
