Hanna, Alberta

Reclaim ~350 km of transmission line right of way and over 1,000 structures during the 2015 season. Worked cooperatively with several different counties, Canadian Association of Energy and Pipeline Landowners Association (CAEPLA), and Special Area Boards (SAB).Reclamation activities include:Fencing repair or replacement of existing fence to CAEPLA/ATCO agreed standardsTower site soil reclamation.Re-contouring sensitive sites in the native prairie region in the Hanna/Consort area.Construction debris clean up.Grass seeding and restoration of damaged sites.Herbicide spraying of problem and noxious weeds.Worked cooperatively with the environment department, and land construction liaison (LCL) to ensure the requirements of the environmental protection plan were followed.Daily production reporting to the project manager and vice president in charge of HRTD. This reporting included cost,schedule, and safety incidents.

Eatl Eastern Alberta Transmission Line (Eatl) – Vegreville, Alberta

Work collaboratively with Bechtel (one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction companies) and several large construction contractors (Valard, and Graham Brothers Construction) to ensure the scope, cost, and schedule are met in regards to the right of way, mat installation, foundation scheduling, access construction, brushing, and reclamation on a 500 km long 500 Kv DC Transmission line in Eastern Alberta (EATL).Duties include:•Lead construction activities of the EATL project regarding right of way access, mat installation, brushing, civil dirt work, foundation schedule, and liaison with local county representatives•Prepare, organize and direct project work plans•Ensure safe work practices, quality assurance, and quality control of contractors work in accordance with contract specification and Alberta Safety Codes.•Hold start-up and orientation meetings with contractors and workers. •Coordinate various work groups, and communicate with other department groups regarding project scope, scheduling and other project related information.•Issue and prepare weekly reports on project status to the Project Manager.•Prepare written technical specifications for brushing and civil scope of works. •Prepare and submit construction project budget and estimate budget costs•Prepare budgets and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements•Review technical specifications for bid documents, evaluate tenders and prepare recommendations for contractor/ vendor selections.•Review and recommend contractor selection, attend site visits with contractors.•Establish good working relationships with multi-discipline project team members, contractors, and any others that have an effect on the quality, schedule and cost of projects•Work cooperatively with Bechtel, Valard, Graham Brothers, STRAD, and Terra Pro field coordinators and superintendents.

Manage and communicate with consultants, EPC contractors, and project team leads on project scope, committments, accountabilities, schedule, and overally budget objectives. Supervised and planned all forestry/access activities related to power-line construction in northern and central Alberta.Activities include: -Prepare the Access Plan, Timber Salvage Plan, and Execution Plan for the Forestry phase of the project-Hired and supervised field consultants to oversee the brushing and access activities.-Developed in cooperation with a GIS consultant a web based mapping software to track permits and land use activities on the Northeast Loop transmission development project (NETMD)-Attend project team meetings, collaborate on route/site selection, and identify possible landowner/first nation issues-Represent the company at various third party information sessions including open house meetings, Government meetings, and First Nation meetings -Communicate with appropriate internal and external groups including Municipal and Provincial agencies, First Nation Groups, consultants, and contractors-Effectively negotiate and acquire all the appropriate consents as required to support ATCO Electric’s transmission line construction projects-Oversee and work cooperatively with the environment/planning department to ensure all permits and approvals are in place for projects-Review the construction release package to ensure it contains the appropriate easement agreements required to transition from the planning phase to execution-Act as company contact person for landowners, occupants and others whose land may be affected by the forestry phase of ATCO Electric (AE’s) transmission projects-Work with appropriate AE personnel to prepare the forestry scope of work and tender the work as per ATCO Electric procurement policies-Ensure that costs incurred for the project are prudently incurred and justifiable-Report on project status during construction as it relates to safety, cost, and schedule-Manage contract resources as per terms and conditions set out in the contract to meet project schedule and costs
