I have been responsible for budget and equipment management, grant reporting, outreach, radio and newspaper interviews, and field work. I also managed the Phase 1 Kodiak Safe Routes to School grant from the Alaska Department of Transportation, participated in the study to identify barriers that keep more elementary and middle school students from walking or biking to school at 5 Kodiak Schools, and assisted ITN Safe Routes to School consultant Michelle LeBeau and ITN ED Andy Schroeder in crafting, publishing and distributing the Kodiak Safe Routes to School Plan. I am currently the lead on the implementation of the Kodiak Safe Routes to School Plan and the Phase 2 Kodiak Safe Routes to School Grant. In February completed a League of American Bicyclists "League Certified Instructor" Course to add safe cycling instruction to my quiver. Long Term Substitute Teacher
I have substituted in all 6 schools in the greater Kodiak City area, all 4 elementary schools (Peterson, Main, East, & North Star) and both the middle school and high school. I've substituted in robotics (hs), integrated science (8th grade), english (1st, 5th, 6th, & 7th grades), math (grades 5, 6, 7), music (kinder-5th), english language acquisition, physical science, special education (kinder, first grade, middle school and first grade). I have also substituted as head and assistant custodian at the middle school). It's a pleasure woking in schools with a multi cultural student body, including Americans, Filipino, an many latin cultures.

I am presently on Kodiak, and am no longer an active dealer of Nigel Dennis' fine designs, but have a small teaching/touring fleet for use in the Kodiak area. I have been invited as an instructor and an interpreter to the first International South American sea kayaking skills symposium to be held in Valdivia, Chile, from October 31-November 3, 2013. I was included in this event on a tip from a Brazilian sea kayaker that I met on FB and who attended the British Sea Kayak Festival I hosted in Homer, Alaska, in September 2011. My sea kayak coaching since 1997 and my fluency in Spanish (having grown up speaking Spanish as a first language in Puerto Rico), facilitated the invite. What an honor !!
