My background is in helping organisations to refine tech product ideas (websites, mobile apps, wearables, data, APIs) through prototypes and user testing, and developing the commercial models, production versions and marketing strategies that help them to succeed. In recent years this has primarily been in the mobility space, having developed a deep understanding of public transport and its place in society. My career in creative technology roles started over 25 years ago, less than half a mile from Silicon Roundabout in London's now tech startup epicentre. I started a digital agency in 2008 at the Arts University Bournemouth's incubation unit, The Enterprise Pavilion. My work during that period was predominantly in the finance, education, and third sectors — until a bus company asked us to support them in delivering a new e-commerce capability.As founder and CEO at Passenger, I’ve worked with over 100 UK public transport operators and authorities, having specialised in transport innovation and behaviour change through digital technology for over a decade. I launched Passenger in 2015, a digital customer experience platform for public transport operators and authorities. At a pivotal time for public transport, Passenger’s technology combines digital ticketing, real-time departures, network information, journey planning, and disruptions management into a single platform. The SaaS platform has been instrumental in transforming traditional services, helping agencies to meet ever-increasing customer experience expectations.Under my guidance, Passenger acquired Brighton-based Netescape, and its BusCMS software in March 2017 — bringing with it some of the most ambitious bus operating companies in the country — and propelling Passenger to become the leading provider of public transport apps in the UK.
