Working within the Retail Design Delivery team to provide design services and tenant fit-out approvals for several iconic shopping centres and retail developments across the United Kingdom.Retail Design Approval- Working with clients to define the design approval process and develop robust design criteria for their tenants to follow.- Producing and maintaining centre design handbooks and other key guidance documents and ensuring that these are circulated appropriately.- Evaluating tenant submissions at concept, detailed and technical design stages and providing appropriate feedback and/or design approvals.- Working with tenants to develop alternative design solutions where an original proposal has been deemed unacceptable.- Providing confirmation that centre design criteria has been adhered to by tenants, to enable consent to trade to be granted by the client.- Acting as a central point of communication between clients, their tenants and any third parties involved in the retail design delivery process.Concept Design- Developing concept design proposals for client areas or client-delivered fit-out elements, such as shopfronts.- Liaising with clients and tenants to refine design proposals; ensuring all parties’ requirements and feedback are incorporated.- Producing design intent proposal presentations, for costing and tender.- Liaising with client contractors to ensure design intent is delivered as envisaged.Team Mentoring- Working closely with junior members of the Retail Design Delivery team to build their confidence and experience.- Producing and delivering training presentations to further the team’s knowledge and competencies, eg Building Regulations, accessible design etc.

Working with clients and projects ranging from one-off schemes for individuals to ongoing project work and roll-outs with international brands such as Marks & Spencer and Superdry.Concept Development and Detailed Design- Working closely with clients to define comprehensive project briefs and design parameters.- Developing schemes from initial sketches into fully-visualised concept proposals.- Producing full detailed design packages, for tender or direct release to the contractor’s team.Project Management and Client Liaison- Attending and hosting scheme briefings, design team meetings and conducting site surveys and snagging visits.- Overseeing contractors and other design team members as an Employer’s Agent.- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with all members of the project team.Information Management- Co-ordinating team workloads and drawing production.- Maintaining the consistency and quality of all information produced.- Ensuring the timely and accurate distribution of information to all parties.Regulatory Compliance- Ensuring all schemes comply with or exceed national requirements and the Building Regulations.- Working with landlords and Local Authorities to ensure that all necessary approvals are granted without any undue delay.

Working within the Space Planning, Design and Formats team to maintain the integrity and performance of the operational space within Sainsbury’s stores.Space Analysis and Implementation- Ensured space was accurately recorded on store plans and the appropriate product ranges assigned.- Handled queries, investigated viable solutions and implemented them.- Investigated ways to increase efficiency of space across the estate.Zone and Scheme Management- Responsible for space management of Zone 2 stores; one quarter of Sainsbury's entire main estate.- Implemented an estate-wide scheme of comprehensive space changes over a tight ten-week programme.
