Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a global business and trade professional with key experience in food, agriculture and international logistics, and export-import trade law compliance. I have served in positions in both the private and public-sector.In the past I have worked in various international compliance, logistics, trade promotion and business development positions including independent consulting work, as Manager of Global Logistics and Compliance at Vermeer Corporation, the Director of the Iowa Export Assistance Center for the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, Marketing Director for the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board, and in international roles with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and AMS Shipper & Exporter Assistance Program. In support of my community and support for citizen diplomacy, I have made community service a priority in my personal life. I have served as President of Iowa Sister States, Chairman of the Iowa Lottery Board Authority, and President of the Wallace House Foundation. I have also served on the Iowa District Export Council, the Iowa Food Policy Council, USDA’s Containerized Grain Export Advisory Council, Director of the Iowa Foreign Trade Zone Corporation, and as staff liaison to the National BioDiesel Board for the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board. In 2002 I was selected to participate in the European Union Visitor’s Program and awarded a 2003 Freeman Fellowship for Young American Leaders by the Asia Foundation.
