Under my direction the design was completed and bids were taken for this enterprise. The concept was a university with different technologies for the student to study. Such as PV thin film panels, a Sterling Engine and a sky tracker system. Due to the drug cartels activity in Mexico financing could not be achieved.Joined First Solar (FSLR) last year as a contract consultant to become aware of their systems, plans and policies prior to an assignment to a First Solar project overseas.Retained by First Solar in early 2012 to come aboard and head up their new international group. They anticipated a large project with Aramco in Saudi Arabia and another in China. They had MOUs for both jobs. First I was assigned to their Topaz project in central California. This is the world's largest solar farm consisting of in excess of 8.4 million soar modules which will produce over 550MWac when completed. This farm is being constructed for Warren Buffett's Mid America Power Group.In 2013 I was transferred to their ISCES project in El Centro, Ca. as construction manager. I was responsible for all activities inside the fence. The PMs at Solar are financial and little control except client interface and budget reporting back to corporate.In late May it became evident that Solar was unable to land either overseas contract and the off shore team concept was abandoned.
