USD CLARiiON Array Software EngineeringInternal driver software development for CLARiiON CX and VNX series storage array product line. Worked to maintain and develop new features for WDM filter drivers on custom hardware running Windows O/S (XPe, Server 2K3, 2K8). Primary development work done in C/C++; test scripting / automation in Perl. Extensive work done using both procedural and object oriented programming.Bugfix & code optimization for onboard DRAM cache driver. Implemented new features that allow for more robust fault tolerance & increase availability through maintenance periods or reboots/failures of Storage Processors (SP) by allowing for DMA copy of cache image from one SP to the other, and allow for rebuilding cache image from data that is persisted in DRAM cache after system reboot. Participated in porting driver for use on new 64 bit O/S. Worked on low-level enhancements to increase performance on multi-core Intel processor architectures.Worked on enhancements to proprietary EMC basic object library that is used across all internally developed drivers.Designed and implemented new software library to allow clients to more efficiently move blocks of data internally between storage units. Assisted various groups within EMC with integrating this feature into their layered drivers.Designed and implemented new cache driver that utilizes Solid State Disks (SSDs) to store blocks of data that are found to be accessed frequently. The "flash cache" driver allowed for up to 2TB of data to be remapped from slower speed Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) throughout the system (up to 960 physical disks) to high speed SSDs.
