Award winning university graduate with a refined academic record. A graduate as of 2022 with a first class honours in the University of Southampton MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics - Aerodynamics program. I have studied fluid dynamics in its many forms, from low speed automotive to hypersonic gas dynamics. In 2018 I elected to study aeronautics and astronautics at the University of Southampton, it was in my time here I discovered I had passion to study fluid mechanics related subjects and ambition to undertake competitive research in this field. In the 2020 academic year I completed my dissertation exploring the noise attenuating effects of flexible trailing edge attachments on a ducted aerofoil profile (the NACA65(12)10) selected for it's status as a representative profile for turbomachinery and various high lift systems. In this research, a link was found between the flexibility of the trailing edge and the resultant noise reduction, such was the significance of the link and presentation of the research, I was awarded the Charlie Williams Wind Tunnel Prize (2020/21) for the best undergraduate research in engineering using a wind tunnel, I did this having no prior experience with aeroacoustics; a testament to my aptitude and fascination with aerodynamics in it's various forms. In my masters year with 5 other candidates, I took on the role of aerodynamicist for a design, build and test of a UAV float plane. My role involved extensive CFD research - focusing on aerodynamic devices in isolation and the airframe as a whole. One such example was a blended wingtip device used to achieve a reduction in lift induced drag to meet our endurance and range targets. The development also resulted in the requirement for a wind tunnel test, done in the R.J Mitchell wind tunnel, testing a full-scale half-wing to validate and compare the CFD baselines. I was also engaged with supporting my teammates with running and analysing aerodynamic simulations for other components such as the undercarriage, struts and the empennage. The aircraft was successfully flown in Spring 2022Throughout my time at university I have engaged myself in extra curricular activities and various job roles. I have worked as a catering team leader in a high paced environment from 18 years old, whilst later into my second year at university I elected to become a private tutor, tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths in the Southampton area, I believe this, paired with my university achievements has helped me grow into a rounded, personable and resourceful person.
