I am an experienced, qualified Automotive Technician. During the earlier stages of my career I worked in various roles ranging from an assembler for a chassis dyno manufacturer, through to a call centre team leader in the tyre industry. Currently I am working as a Customer Engineer for Goodyear which, to my surprise, I have worked in for 14 years, my longest tenure in a single role. 'Surprised' because it doesn't feel that long. I consider it a privilege to work with our customers in a department and role that is so diverse that every day presents a new challenge and opportunity. My role combines outdoor, hands-on tasks with office-based analysis, planning and preparation, often in a multi-departmental collaborative effort, and sometimes completely autonomously. When I am not working my main hobby is motor-sport, specifically rallying where I have competed as both driver and co-driver, and when not competing I devote time to the management and organisational aspects of the sport.Most recently (2023) I have completed the training to become a volunteer fire-fighter in the Country Fire Authority. This has presented a completely new environment to working for a corporate and provides an interesting contrast - in my profession I am considered competent and capable by my peers with a desire to share my knowledge and experience to benefit the business or train and mentor others, in my CFA role I am the newest recruit and it is like I am learning to walk again, the working environment is inherently more dangerous and unpredictable, when decisions need to be made they need to be made quickly and sometimes without all the facts neatly laid out. I'm thoroughly enjoying learning and adding these new skills.
