Tom Shakely is a strategic communications expert and human rights advocate with more than 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He currently serves as Chief Communications Officer for Bishop Michael F. Burbidge at the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, Virginia.In this role, Tom serves as a member of the Executive Staff and serves as the Bishop’s spokesperson with the news media. He oversees the Office of Communications, the Arlington Catholic Herald, brand identity, digital media, press relations, and publications.Tom is also a Paige Comstock Cunningham Senior Fellow at Americans United for Life (AUL), where he previously served as Chief Engagement Officer. AUL is the nation's premier law and policy organization advancing the human right to life across the spectrum of issues, including abortion and suicide prevention, patients rights and healthcare policy, and emerging bioethical matters.In his professional and volunteer activities, Tom is passionate about cultivating a culture of hope, purpose, and life in the midst of a meaning-starved age.
