I currently work as the lead landscape architect for a landscape design and build company based in the Cotswolds, UK. I lead the design team, who manage client's projects from initial consultation, through the full design and construction process to the finished article.I pride myself on my design communication through both highly detailed hand drawn and digital presentation skills. Continuous engagement in current themes and exploring planting combinations provides me the opportunity to stay at the forefront of contemporary design. These attributes allow me as an individual, to recognise and develop opportunities for growth of a design and outdoor space.After several years in the musculoskeletal field and academia I decided to return to my passion of horticulture and design, whereupon, I undertook a Master’s degree in landscape architecture (LA) at the University of Gloucestershire. The positions held within this field helped facilitate my ability to research and disseminate contemporary practices within the field of LA. These roles required a high level of written communication, presentation skills and dialogue with multiple stakeholders and clients.I have gained in depth knowledge on all aspects of LA, including; materiality and construction methods, planting design, sustainability and environmentally sensitive design, domestic and public realm projects, site surveying, professional codes of conduct and legislation, and project management. Further exploration into new design opportunities has facilitated a broader construction knowledge and required me to have deeper understanding of bespoke detailing within landscapes. Having the responsibilities of a lead designer, my design skills have flourished as I explore innovative design concepts and work closely with clients to understand their brief and how I can push the boundaries of what they require to create unique installations. I enjoy seeking feedback and critical thinking with other members of the design team to ensure that my designs, and theirs, can be the best they can be with full consideration of the finer details. I have also developed strong industry relationships with major European suppliers and specialist contractors. It is of high importance that through both design style, and materiality, that I am sensitive to the surrounding environmental conditions, and sympathetic to both the clients brief and the unique ecosystem of each garden.Outside of my role, I enjoy exploring different plant species and combinations within my own garden and spend much of my time on the golf course.
