During my time covering the 118 square miles, I wrote about a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme, a proposed federal detention center and controversy over efforts to create a Gay-Straight Alliance at a local high school. Some stories grabbed national headlines, including a prank by a graduating senior at Bangor Area School District and a man who commuted to work via kayak.
